Also at occasions like weddings or birthdays the edge stools are considered as popular decoration items. Mostly the cute figures are handmade from wood. Very well known and popular are the Räuchermännchen made in the original Erzgebirge folk art. They are all handmade, partly hand-painted and assembled with many small parts with attention to detail. In them, the base body represents the seat surface, the legs simply hang down. The so-called edge stools can be found in many living rooms.

The origins of the Räuchermännchen lie in mining. When this slowly dried up, people artistically turned the Christmas men or other figures from wood.

mid-18th century. In the middle of the 18th century, people liked to light candles to spread a wonderful scent. The scent of incense was often used for this purpose at Christmas time. This custom existed so that the three holy kings brought gold and myrrh to the baby Jesus.

To make the Räucherkerzen in a container more beautiful, the Räuchermännchen was created.

How to use a Räuchermännchen correctly?

Mostly Räucherkerzen are lit during the Christmas season. The candles, which are placed in the edge stools, come in different fragrances. They go from traditional scents like incense, lavender or sandalwood, to special scents like green tea and caffe latte. This is only a small excerpt from the huge selection of products that are available. Very well known are the original Crottendorfer Räucherkerzen, as they always burn evenly and offer delicious Düfte.

For most of the Räucherkerzen the burning time is about 10-20 minutes. Depending on the Räucher figure they have, each of the edge stool has a recess that provides space for the small cone. If the candle smokes enough, you carefully place it in the edge stool.
