Advent stars – The genesis of a long-standing tradition

But where does the tradition of Advent stars actually come from? Well obviously the genesis lies in the Christmas story. As early as 1862, the Pomeranian Christmas tree company advertised in the Allgemeine Zeitung in Munich that the top of the tree would be decorated with the Advent star, which would turn all by itself thanks to the given device. In addition, the Advent star, consisting of twelve rays, should be surrounded by angels that hover around the tree and remind of the multitude of the heavenly hosts.
